As Skill Matters’ principal consultant, Verena Marshall brings over 30 years’ experience as a HR practitioner, licensed workplace investigator, accredited mediator, and researcher to private industry and the public sector.
Examples of industries for which Verena has provided services include: resources (mining, oil and gas), transport (aviation, rail, shipping), government (federal, state and local), law firms, regulatory bodies, hospitality, emergency services, farming, engineering, retail, health, tertiary education, and community not-for-profit organisations.
Verena held roles in Human Resources and Management Services within Australia and overseas for 15 years. Thereafter, Verena became an academic in the Curtin Graduate School of Business for 18 years. In her academic role, Verena authored approximately 50 publications (including a graduate text on HR strategies, and refereed research book chapters and articles). Concurrently, Verena taught Organisation Behaviour, Strategic HR, Employee Relations, and OHS Law in the MBA and Master of Leadership programs, and supervised students in the Doctoral research program. Verena also continued consulting to industry through workplace investigations, mediations, and training while working in academia.
In addition to her PhD in Organisation Behaviour (UWA) and Master of Business degree, Verena is legally qualified, holding a Juris Doctor of Law, Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice, and Graduate Certificate of Migration Law. Verena was admitted as a Lawyer to the Supreme Court of NSW. She is licensed as an Investigator and Inquiry Agent, a Nationally Accredited Mediator, and holds a Certificate in Investigation from the Association of Workplace Investigators (USA).
